Campaign Story
From the minute they are born, battery hens suffer. They are born in an incubator without a mother to nuture them and they are handled roughly as their beaks are burned off without any care for the pain and infection. Their beaks are burned off because the companies who sell caged eggs know that the torturous environment will mean chickens pecking at eachother as they are squashed together with no room even to spread their wings.
All these hens can do is reach their sore, featherless necks through their cages to get some food and water. Thats's it. That is their life for two years. At two years of age their egg laying decreases and they are no longer deemed "productive" so they are sold to a slaughterhouse where they meet a gruesome end.
Sabrina and I are going to adopt two of these hens before they can be killed to give them a second chance at a good life. To allow them to see the sun for the first time in their life, to allow them to peck at the ground and spread their wings and roost in peace. And to give them plenty of TLC.
As my birthday approaches - 6 December :) - please donate whatever you can to help Sabrina and I with purchasing everything we need to support the hens we are saving including initial vet bills. We will take pictures showing what your donations have helped create as the hens get better and better and get to live normal lives.
I can't wait to give these precious beings a second chance. Love you all!
