As of today, the whole world has witnessed the devastation brought about by typhoon Vamco (known locally as Ulysses) to our province Cagayan Valley.
All we could see in our social media pages are cries for help for my beloved hometown Cagayan.
Yes I am from Aparri, Cagayan and my
heart goes out to my co Cagayanos
whose areas are worst hit by Ulysses.
I may not experiencing the nightmares
my kababayans are facing right now
as I am safely nestled here abroad and
fortunately my families back home are all safe as well.
Nevertheless, I am not different as my
family was in the same frightening
situation when I was 5 years old in 1975.
I can still vividly remember when we are being evacuated by making our way
safely from the window of our wooden
2 storey house to my grandfather’s
banca to be sheltered to his higher and
I could feel the greatest fear ever of my
life- fear of losing my family.
I may not have saved those who were not
lucky but in my own little way I was able
to convey a message of hope to those
rescued that we are here to help, to ease their fears and to start a new life again
I joined with the relief operations being
conducted by my family and friends back home by sending from my personal
pocket, sadly my personal budget is
lacking at the moment as a large
population has been affected and I just
couldn’t leave those who are still crying
And so I am knocking your hearts to
please share any amount you could to
at least put a smile on the face of the
dispersed families of my co Cagayanos...
especially Christmas is fast
Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much!
God bless us all❤️
