Isabela and Cagayan are considered to be among the richest provinces in the country, as they have abounding and bountiful forests and agricultural resources. Both provinces are major contributors to rice and corn harvests with them being regarded as the top rice and corn granaries in the entire Philippines. Also, most of the breathtaking sceneries in the region that are lavished with vast greeneries and crystal clear beaches fronting the Pacific Ocean can be found in Isabela and Cagayan.

Both situated in the northern Luzon of the Philippines, the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela have been severely stricken by typhoon Ulysses (international name Vamco). The provinces are now declared under a state of calamity due to the extent and scope of damage that Ulysses has caused.

Northern Luzon has always been known to be frequently impacted by tropical cyclones. From this, Isabela and Cagayan have been prepared with teams specifically dedicated to averting disasters and risks and invoke citizens' preparedness. However, this extent of the disaster was unexpected, and never did we imagine that we can be submerged in extreme flooding affecting houses, business establishments, and agricultural and aquatic resources. The unexpected rush and rise of water have washed away lives and livelihood altogether.

It is all over social media. Trending posts and viral videos would flood your feeds with residents crying for help, asking to be rescued, shouting at the top of their voice to be found while they are trapped, stuck, and left in the cold and the dark at the roofs of their homes. I have had the chance to hear that audio, all of them synchronously screaming "RESSSSSCCCCUUUUUUUEEEEEEE!" Then a couple of hours later, there have already been posts saying that those people have already drowned and are already dead. Some areas are flooded with 5 to 7 ft mudwater but here in Cagayan, it has already reached 15 ft and it is way over their houses. In another instance, there are people, mostly children, who are patiently waiting to be rescued, but they were electrocuted in the floodwater, including a rescuer who was supposed to save them. Several testimonials have appeared stating that their location is far from where the incident happened but the cries for help and agony have reached them as if they were near. Online conversations with survivors said that bodies have already started to float on the floodwater, comprising mostly of children.

Typhoon Ulysses has caused much distraught, devastation, and destruction. Many lives were taken, several families have lost their homes, countless animals have been displaced, and this disaster left all of us heartbroken.

They are our families,

They are our friends,

They are our neighbors,

They are our acquaintances,

They are our countrymen,

They are our people,

And they need us now more than ever!

The proceeds of this fundraising will be allocated for the necessities of the victims who have lost their homes and their loved ones. It will mostly be drinking water, food, medicines, blankets, clothes, and other essential goods upon their request.
