Haia pawb,

Mae unrhyw un sydd yn fy adnabod i yn gwybod am fy nghariad tuag at blant ac yn gwybod, yr wyf erioed wedi bod eisiau trafeilio, ond yn anffodus dydw i erioed wedi cael yr hyder – ond rŵan yn teimlo’n barod i fynd. Yn ffodus iawn, cefais fy nghyflwyno i “Plan My Gap Year” sy'n rhoi’r cyfle i mi ymweld â Sri Lanka am 3 wythnos wrth wirfoddoli o Ddydd Llun i Gwener mewn cartref plant amddifad (Orphanage). Fyddwn yn dysgu Saesneg i'r plant ac yn cynnal gweithgareddau ac rwyf wir yn edrych ymlaen amdano. Ynghyd â gwirfoddoli, gallaf ymweld â lleoliadau hardd o gwmpas Sri Lanka fel Mirissa, Adam's Peak, Galle Fort, Parc Cenedlaethol Yala a llawer mwy.

Dyma ychydig o wybodaeth am y cartref plant amddifad a’r gwirfoddoli / Here is a little information about the Orphanage and the volunteering.

“In Sri Lanka today institutional care is the fate of many children who have been abandoned by their parents. According to UNICEF, out of over 21,000 children in orphanages in Sri Lanka, one or both parents of over 19,000 of them are still alive. Poverty is a root cause with families feeling they cannot afford to adequately provide for the child and give them the education and start in life they need and deserve.

In 2004, a deadly tsunami took the lives of nearly 40,000 Sri Lankans and left hundreds of thousands homeless and increased the number of children who were orphans and/or homeless. The orphans have suffered loss of immediate family and have limited opportunities to attend school or skills. The orphanage empowers the orphans and develops educational programs that help them break the cycle of poverty. They encourage to help rebuild a sense of hope, home and family that was torn from them at such an early age.

Our role is to help encourage and care for these children, provide them with much needed confidence and to help maximise their potential. Volunteering with children is a highly rewarding experience and one that people from all backgrounds can get involved in. The projects we work with provide a much needed safety net for these vulnerable children and the more help and encouragement they can get from volunteers, the better and brighter their future.”

Fodd bynnag, gyda theithiau hedfan, yswiriant teithio ac arian gwario i gynnwys fy nghyllideb gyffredinol, rwy'n gofyn yn garedig am ychydig o rodd i fy nghadw i fynd yn ystod fy amser yn gwirfoddoli. Bydd y daith yn brofiad bythgofiadwy (ac rwy'n gobeithio y byddaf yn gallu rhannu gyda chi i gyd trwy luniau!) ac mae'n rhywbeth yr wyf yn hynod gyffrous am ei wneud.

Rwyf yn cychwyn fy nhaith ar y 4ydd o Orffennaf 2020.

Diolch i bawb!

Hello everyone,

Anyone who knows me knows about my love of children and knows that I have always wanted to travel, but unfortunately, I have never had the confidence to go - but now I feel ready. Fortunately, I was introduced to “Plan My Gap Year” which gives me the opportunity to visit Sri Lanka for 3 weeks whilst volunteering Monday-Friday in an Orphanage home where we will teach English to the children and will be carrying out activities. I am VERY looking forward to it. Along with volunteering, I can visit beautiful locations around Sri Lanka such as Mirissa, Adam's Peak, Galle Fort, Yala National Park and many more.

See information about the Orphanage and the Volunteering above.

However, with flights, travel insurance and spending money to cover my overall budget, I kindly ask for a little donation to keep me going during my volunteering time. The trip will be an unforgettable experience (and I hope I can share with you all through pictures!) And it's something I am extremely excited about doing.

I will start my journey on the 4th of July 2020.

Thank you all!
