As single parents, most of us don't enjoy being on government benefits. However, sometimes it's a necessity. As for me, my one year old drinks milk like it's water free flowing from the faucet. I don't qualify for Foodstamps; however, I do qualify for WIC. It doesn't solely feed my kids. It helps out greatly with providing the milk for my one year old, especially because he drinks Soy milk (he's lactose intolerance). I'm also thankful for the eggs and cheese that WIC provides (my seven year old eats this daily). I can't speak for everyone, but I know that I speak for a lot of individuals when I say that you don't enjoy redeeming the WIC vouchers in your "regular" grocery stores. You get stares, whispers, agitated customers and cashiers when the line is held up because you grabbed the wrong item, or you go to the store one month and something is WIC eligible and the next month it's not. Sometimes you have the kids with you and they're wining or you're nine months pregnant and miserable.

Well, with your help and the help of the community we can hopefully change that. My goal is to open a store in Louisiana (Lafayette area) that would be a WIC only store. It's won't be your average WIC only store, however. You will have the option of shopping for your items yourself, having a store employee shop for them for you, or reserving your items online and coming in within 24 hours with your voucher and have them picked up already bagged and waiting for you at the time you schedule for pickup.

The next difference will be the meal kits. You've heard of companies like Blue Apron right? Well, think about Blue Apron but for food stamp recipients and with some foods that we (from down south) eat. So, you'll be able to buy seafood gumbo kits, red beans & rice w/fried chicken kits, spaghetti meal kits w/corn and garlic bread, crawfish etoufee kits w/peas and fried fish, etc. The kits will include all ingredients (with the exception of herbs and spices) and instructions on preparation. All kits will be able to be purchased with Foodstamps and will be made to feed families of 2, 4, & 6.

With a donation of your choice this store cannot only be a dream, but it can be a reality. Just imagine stress free WIC shopping and meal kits at your disposal using food stamp benefits.

Donations will be used to secure a building, set up a website, and all other associated start up cost
