STARXING HANDICRAFTS TRADING is in dire need of your help for immediate fund relief and to sustain business growth for years to come. It’s been a year since pandemic started. Our company suffers losses financially. We lost opportunities both in business and helping alleviate poverty and protect nature.

STARXING HANDICRAFTS TRADING is a design and manufacturing company. We are part and supports Livelihood Programs in remote mountainous areas of Provinces of Quezon, Marinduque, Bicol Region and Luisiana, Laguna. We support by providing business to our local weavers, we give out training, innovation of tools and machines to eliminate tedious process, improved product quality, reduce man hours and increase productivity.

Our products are buri braid comes in different designs. It is a major raw material to assemble native hats and 100% export to China. As the Covid-19 started in China and tourism badly affected all over the world. We have total three hundred (300) weavers with families to feed and children to send to school. We also protect environment and nature every time we harvest buri.

Buri is a family of palm tree. It is a large palm that can be found on lowlands area in the Philippines. It is famous for its durability. Our main material is fiber from Buri trunks. It goes into several processes; harvesting, cleaning by boiling, sun dried, smoking, stripping, weaving/ braiding, pressing and packaging in roll.

The funding support is needed to buy and pay labor for buri materials. The business looks positive as we are receiving orders we need to secure at least one (1) year buri materials as we target to produce 10 containers (10 x 20’) per year. The best time to harvest buri is from February to June during summer time. We need a safe storage facility to keep the buri materials in good quality and control moist, away from dirt and insects. `This is also to safekeep the materials, tools, machines from typhoon and flood. Since last year August, Province of Quezon, Bicol and Marinduque had been hit by typhoon and our materials have been devastated, This also contributed to our losses.

Aside from the materials, we need to add more tools and machines (stripping, pressing, drying and rolling) to increase productivity. Long term, we are working on robot arm to help us in weaving or braiding process which is our major challenge and we believe in this solution. The braiding process is tedious. Our weavers might face health issues such as back aches, eye problem and hand wounds. The purpose of developing a robot arm is not to totally eliminate the manual weaving process but to help the business meet its target supply and if we meet the target supply, our business continues and we can continue extend more help to our weavers. We can expand our support to livelihood projects not only limited to a few areas but to more weavers in entire Philippines.
