Sa pagbasa, may pag-asa!
This is the primary reason why Burugkos, Inc., a non-profit organisation based in Gubat, Sorsogon is keen on putting up mini libraries called #balaybrary in the 42 barangays of the town. The project started in 2016 when the organisation realised that of the 39 elementary schools in the municipality, only 6 have libraries.
Through the support of donors and community members, they have already put up 9 mini libraries so far! One mini library costs about PHP 10,000 (AUD 300) to build to include labor cost, materials, and the books to fill in. In the next few years, they want to build 33 more so that every child in the baranggay would have access to books!
