Burton and His Bucket . “Burton and His Bucket” is an orphan who arrived at Andrews camp, his father had just died, he arrived begging for food, his only worldly posession, a bucket to frighten wild animals off. He is the face of many orphans, a very poor rural fishing community in zambia near the kafue river who have fast deleted fishing stocks due to unsustainable fishing and fishing methods. The drought has meant crops have failed and this pristine wildlife area is now subjects to pressure from subsistence poaching. Burton and his community need help, a help that will provide basic human needs and long term teaching, training and education with fishing, correct fishing equipment with the ultimate goal of equipping the fisherman and their families to become self reliant, not reliant on donors. Education in wildlife matters, the protection of flaura and fauna is of outmost importance. This is a long term drive as we help uplift Burton and his community, a hand in hand project of humanitarian and wildlife interest, education, care and self sustainability.

Thank you Andrew for taking Burton into the community and helping integrate, learn, and become self reliant. No child should suffer the loss of their parents, only to be robbed of all possessions. Burton is just the face representing many children in similar situations. By embracing and welcoming them into the community, showing compassion, teaching skills to be a self sustaining member of a community, will not only help our society in the short term, but hopefully move toward a more positive future. Thank you Haley for setting this up, I now realize how difficult it is getting $ to Africa outside of these sites!
