OUR PURPOSE - Provide funding to student tuition/expenses for Inclusive Post-secondary Education, (IPSE) at institutions of higher learning in Nova Scotia. Post-secondary education is expensive for everyone, but with know financing options available whatsoever for IPSE, it makes it limited to those who can afford to pay out of pocket. Inclusive Post Secondary Education aims to expand future vision by removing another barrier for diverse learners and leveling the playing field. Currently, there are no funding options available for Nova Scotians who might choose to pursue IPSE. It remains an elite program of study and cost prohibitive to most. IPSE does not qualify for student loans, and therefore no grants or bursaries, either. We need to make it truly a viable option for transition from High School. Your financial contribution will help fund Inclusive post-secondary education for diverse learners in Nova Scotia.
With inclusive post-secondary programs in Alberta leading the way in the early 1990s, Canada has made noticeable strides in providing post-secondary options for students who would not otherwise have access to a college or university experience (Hughson et al, 2007; Mosoff et al, 2009; and Weinkauf, 2002) In Alberta, collaborative efforts of parents, post-secondary institutions, and not-for-profit organizations, have embraced a model of full inclusion at the post-secondary level that appears to be leading the way to removing this systemic barrier to full citizenship.
Dr. Lynn Aylward, Acadia University, has been instrumental in bringing IPSE to Acadia University, Axcess Acadia, with the belief that every student has the right to pursue a higher education with equal access to an education, to a personalized education for the whole student, to supporting and enhancing lifelong learning. The opportunity is available, if one can afford to pay out of pocket. No student loans or bursaries are available for IPSE. Help us fill the gap!
Please, DONATE to IPSE Nova Scotia Bursary Fund. All proceeds go to funding Bursaries for qualifying students with financial need. Living on campus and participating in higher education is promoting each to be the best that they can be! Let diverse learners dare to dream! Other provinces have programs in place to assist IPSE students financially. If they can do it, so can we!
All monies will go to the IPSE in Nova Scotia Bursary Fund to support Axcess Acadia program of study fees
