Campaign Story
“You have watches, but you don’t have time. We don’t have watches, but we have time.”
I am part of a group of six students who are travelling this summer to Mukoni village, Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda. Our goal is to set up a solar power plant and to help financing construction material for the new classroom. Remaining funds will be spent on notebooks and sanitary products, and to pay for teachers' accommodation.
During our stay, we will be hosted by Mr Ronald a.k.a. Mojster Jaka, head of The Centre for Community Development. The aim of the organisation is to support local community development through education (by providing notebooks and financing teachers), health care, creating jobs (selling home-made crafts, growing crops), connecting local people in cultural activities and traditions (organising performances for tourists). They contribute to the lives of children with poor family background, orphans, farmers and unemployed people that live around Lake Bunyonyi.
Mojster Jaka will introduce us to the pristine lifestyle of his village. We aim to give back to the community by giving English and maths lectures, organising swimming classes, assisting with brick production, and most importantly, helping to set up a solar power plant to bring electricity to a new classroom which is still under construction.
The success of this modernization project is dependent on the electrical materials that can be afforded within Mr Ronald’s budget. Therefore, we have decided to extend our support to the community by raising funds to purchase the necessary electrical equipment. By donating, you can help us with bringing sustainable energy to the classroom and enhancing their educational experience.
Any remaining funds will be used to provide essential resources such as notebooks, clothes, and personal hygiene products. Your contribution, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated by us and, especially, the community of Mukoni village.
Rest assured that we are committed to transparency and we promise we will diligently document and publicly share all transactions and expenses in this Google Sheets document [Uganda Fundraiser]. The contribution can be anonymised upon your request.
All expenses will be transparently documented and publicly available in Google Sheets and shared on social media, allowing you to witness the positive changes your contributions bring to the Lake Bunyonyi community.
