BULIG ESKWELA PROJECT

We are Mia and Mika, two sisters who were born and raised in Northern Samar, one of the poorest provinces in the Philippines. Despite growing up in a middle class household, we were still exposed to lives in poverty within our very neighborhood (former) and, on several occasions, when visiting remote areas. We may also have had experienced having less than we normally did in terms of food and school needs.

We could only imagine how this pandemic has greatly magnified the struggle that every poor family has been hurdling for almost their entire lives. Let us not forget the added challenge to the children in coping up with their studies after the adoption of the distance learning system by the Department of Education. Distance learning requires that every student must at least have a smartphone (bare minimum) and internet access in order to accomplish their academic tasks which makes it even more difficult for them to avail of education.

This is why we are taking courage to raise funds in order to help poverty-stricken students by providing them with laptops, smartphones, or WiFi modems.

It is our first attempt at fundraisers so we decided to help 10 students which means 10 laptops. Each laptop we procure must meet the basic specifications released by DepEd and should incur around Php10,000.-Php12,000. thus amounting to a total of Php120,000. to be raised. And, hopefully with the excess, we might be able to provide smartphones and WiFi modems as well.

The success of this project will greatly depend on the kind hearts of our donors - YOU, who share the same desire as us to help our children in this very difficult time.
