I’m a college student and I’ve been using an old Dell laptop ever since. The laptop was given to me when I was in high school by my elder sister who had graduated from university years ago. Years have gone by and problems after problems started arising from my laptop. It freezes and crashes unexpectedly when I'm doing my assignments and what not. Like yourself, I have tried sending it to a computer repair shop to get it fixed to no avail. After a while, the same issue occurred again and again.
Not to mention it emits loud noises and gets super hot during use especially when I connect the power brick charger to a wall socket. I think it may be going over its life expectancy and is slowly dying. I have been into serious considerations on buying a PC with medium to high specifications for personal work use as well as for gaming. I have had a passion for video games ever since I was a child, playing video games on my old Playstation 2.
However, I simply could not afford to buy one at the moment. As with every other foreign product in this country, computer parts are extremely expensive due to high taxes implemented by our government. With the whole covid-19 pandemic, I lost my part-time job as a kitchen crew staff and I’m unemployed as of now. I also have tons of other necessity expenses to pay as well and would not be able to accumulate the money to buy a PC. It is incredibly hard to even get a job now and it is incredibly risky too. At the time of writing this using my phone, my country is currently on a 2 week lockdown and is recently ranked the number 1 spot for highest number of covid cases per capita, surpassing the US as well as the UK.
If I achieve the donation goal, I will be getting a decent AMD Ryzen CPU and a somewhat powerful and long-lasting graphics card, maybe a Gtx 1650. Along with that, other decent computer parts to supplement the build such as the motherboard, power supply, computer monitor, and etc. I intend to use my new PC for many years to come so I will be choosing durable specifications to my build. If there is any excess money left, I will save it for future upgrades and additional security services such as a good quality Anti-virus or a VPN.
It took me a great amount of humility to ask strangers around the world for help but I am in desperate need of one. Even if the donation goal is not met, I’m beyond grateful for anyone who supported. It means a lot to me and it will be super exciting for me as I have never had a gaming PC in my lifetime.
