The “Pastel Popay” story.

Pastel Popay is my “baby”. It was born out of desire to combine my business skills with my hobby of making pastries at home. Over the years, I’ve gotten so much positive response when I presented or brought my home-made products to the office, company outings, kids’ school fancy fairs, family gatherings, etc. So, two years ago I decided to go for it 100% and to become a homepreneur with my own bakery business.

For the past 2 years, I’ve been baking in freed up space at my residence. My main sales channel has been the online applications that are available here in Jakarta / Indonesia (a metropole with over 20 million residents). Lucky for me, as therefore I could spend lots of time in the home bakery keeping an eye and hands-on production.

However, it’s more practical and efficient to also have my own offline point of sales nearby my bakery, where I can present and sell my products to prospects who are not into “online applications”. Fortunately, I’ve found a very good location within a 24-hours open convenience store beside it and surrounded with two international schools, where I can rent space to open my dream shop. But even though I have found my perfect spot, I still need a few key pieces of specialized equipment and to do a little renovation to make the bakery a great space. The market for quality and tasty bread products is huge in the busy Jakarta area and I want to make sure I / we can get our share of that. I can already see a tiny light shining at the end of the tunnel, and I am asking for your help to make that light brighter.

The total sum of money required investing in both renting the sales location and buying / leasing the bakery equipment is beyond my reach. Banks in Indonesia are reluctant in financing small businesses start-ups, especially when owned by a homepreneur like me. Therefore, crowdfunding is my best option at this moment. All funds raised will go towards the remaining build-out costs, bakery equipment, contracting and training of staff.

Even though some of you perhaps live far away from Indonesia, I am still excited to offer some great rewards to you, my supporters who want to help us out.

  • For donation of US$ 100,- or more, if you live near to our area, you can get your hands on our handcrafted Pastel Popay's tote-bag and apron, also some of our special delicious baked & pastry. However if you live far away, we can arrange our fresh Pastel Popay products (of your choice) and have these products handed out at a nearby elderly peoples home, a hospital, an orphanage or another charity. We’ll arrange a nice presentation of your products to these institutions and send you pictures of videos of it.
  • For donation of US$ 500,- or more: - a 4% net interest pay-out on the capital you invest in my business. Payable once a year. Pay-back of your capital sum at your request, after a minimum investment period of 3 years in my business
