Building hope for imperfect but beautiful hearts

Hello, our beautiful friends!

We are Oana Vancea and Cristina Goia, both junior surgeons at the Institute for Cardiovascular Disease and Transplant, in Targu Mures City, Romania. Our ward is divided into adult heart surgery and pediatric congenital heart surgery. Starting this fall, we will be needing a room especially for children with congenital heart diseases. We are trying to put a smile on every child's face before and after his/her open heart surgery. We need your help to be able to raise enough funds to cover the expenses of creating this special place that we have envisioned for our strong little patients.

We are operating children ranging from several days to 18 years old. The strength that they show every day, even in the most difficult moments of their life, have fueled in us the desire to make their hospitalization time more pleasant and even joyful. Due to COVID-19, our hospital had to be reorganized and we lost the room we had. Now our small patients are admitted into a room design for grownups with white walls and unsuitable beds. Unfortunately, the change is permanent however this gives us the opportunity to create an even better space. So we are planning to paint the white and dull walls with color and cartoon characters that children can relate to. Also, special beds and matrasses are needed for post-operative recovery, items that are quite expensive.

In our team, there are two painters, Cosmin Pol and Laurentiu Condrache, that are happy to donate their time and talent to bring color and happiness into children's opened hearts. They have plenty of ideas and are eager to start painting this dream into a reality.

It doesn't matter how old you are, if you've ever been admitted, you know that a visit to the hospital is always scarry. Small things do matter and every little help is appreciated and will bring a great contribution to our cause.

Buna ziua, dragi prieteni!

Noi suntem Oana Vancea si Cristina Goia, suntem medici rezidenti chirurgi la Institutul de Boli Cardiovasculare si Transplant din Targu Mures, Romania. Sectia noastra este impartita in chirurgie cardiovasculara de adulti si chirurgie cardiaca pediatrica congenitala. Incepand din aceasta toamna, vom avea mare nevoie de un salon special pentru copilasii cu malformatii cardiace. Incercam sa aducem un zambet pe buzele tuturor copiilor care au fost operati sau urmeaza sa fie suspusi unei interventii chirurgicale pe cord deschis. Avem nevoie de ajutorul vostru pentru a strange suficente fonduri in vederea acoperirii costurilor crearii acestui salon special pe care ni l-am imaginat pentru micii dar puternicii nostrii pacienti.

Operam copii cu varsta incepand de la cateva zile pana la 18 ani. Puterea si forta de care dau dovada zi de zi, chiar si in cele mai dificile momente din viata lor, ne motiveaza si ne alimenteaza dorinta de a le face spitalizarea mai usoara, chiar placuta. Datorita COVID-19, spitalul nostru a suferit restructurari si am pierdut salonul pe care il aveam pentru copilasi. Acum micutii nostrii sunt internati intr-un salon de adulti cu pereti albi cu paturi si saltele necorespunzatoare. Din pacate schimbarea este ireversibila dar acest lucru ne da posibilitatea sa cream un spatiu si mai potrivit pentru copii. Asadar, planuim sa pictam peretii albi si tristi de spital cu culori si cu personaje indragite din desene animate. De asemenea, sunt necesare paturi si saltele speciale de spital, , asternuturi, noptiere si altele pentru ingrijirea pre si post-operatorie, elemente destul de costisitoare.

Din echipa noastra fac parte si doi pictori, Cosmin Pol si Laurentiu Condrache care au fost foarte fericiti sa daruiasca din timpul si din talentul lor ca sa aduca culoare si bucurie in inimioarele deschise ale copiilor. Au venit cu foarte multe idei si sunt nerabdatori sa picteze acest vis!

Indiferent de varsta, daca ai fost vreodata la spital, stii ca orice vizita sau internare este neplacuta. Micile detalii conteaza si fiecare ajutor oricat de nesemnificativ ar parea, poate sa aduca o mare contributie la cauza noastra.
