Building a Gale Community Academy SMART Health Clinic

“This will be our legacy as a school, a community, and a family!” Gale Principal Emuwa

CVS corp. through GINN Consulting is awarding a $150,000 match grant to build a SMART clinic

at Gale Community Academy. Beyond medical resources, SMART clinics bring targeted medical

and social-emotional support structures to young people that need them, using a relatively

new model that is proving incredibly effective for at risk and medically fragile

populations. It is a potential game changing development for our neighborhood school.

It’s an 'all hands on deck' moment for our community, another $103,000 is needed by April

1st, 2018, a one time expense that will open the doors to both the clinic and the revenue

streams needed to operate it for years to come.

More than 36 languages are spoken at Gale Community Academy, and over 97% of students are

from low income families. Some are medically fragile young people from local assisted living

facilities whose hope for education rests entirely with Gale's ability to provide it. SMART

clinics have already resulted in over 30,000 additional school days attended in the four

schools in which they have been implemented. Suspensions have been reduced by an incredible

92%. The estimated value/return on investment per dollar is $52.00 per every dollar spent at

the flagship location.
