A significant proportion of Ecuador's population lives in extreme poverty. Some villages do not have access to acceptable bathroom facilities and instead drink, wash, and go to the bathroom in the same river, which has detrimental effects on their health. Children of these villages have little hope of the bright future that we all take for granted as free schooling ends at the age of 14, leaving many families unable to pay for further secondary studies, let alone tertiary.

My friend and I are Australian university students that have joined the Volunteer Eco Students Abroad program and will travel to Ecuador in November of this year (2018). We hope to improve village life and give children access to opportunities that will help them throughout their life through their sustainable community development project.

We will be working in a disadvantaged village to address major problems such as a lack of fresh running water, dilapidated schools and generally poor infrastructure. We will teach village children English and basic sanitation, renovate facilities, install new play equipment and construct and install bathrooms and water catchments for village homes.

Your donation will go towards hiring local skilled trades people to supervise and assist in the building projects, building materials and donations to local organizations. A small amount will also go towards flights to allow us to travel to this community in the first place.

Every donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for helping us with our goals.
