Campaign Story
In the small township of Kawlin with less than 150,000 in population, there is a village called Kaing Wun with about 260 families. This small village is 2 hours from the nearest market and there is no electricity supply here. Temperature is hot and humid, usually reaching 40 degrees celcius especially in the afternoons.
To serve the people of this village, a simple 2-storrey Buddhist temple is built. While preparations started since 2018, construction works to date (May 2019) are still ongoing.
Breakdown of shortage (as at May 2019) :
Construction of Dhamma Hall : USD 25,000
Construction of bridges : USD 15,000
Construction of tanks, toilets : USD 8,000
Solar lights, misc : USD 1,000
At present, we have 7 volunteers who are expected to arrive in Mandalay airport by 5pm on 9th Aug 2019 and take a 2 hour ride to Pa-Auk Monastery for the night. Before dawn, we shall start our 8 hour plus ride to Kaing Wun Village in Kaw Lin Town through farms and plantations in order to arrive before dark, just in time to get our bearings in place before nightfall.
Come Aug 2019, we will assist in every way we can. Our departure is scheduled for 17 Aug 2019. Your contribution is much appreciated.
