Build a House for Grandma

"There is nothing more important than a good, safe and secure home." -R.C.

We get up everyday to work, school and to attend to all of our businesses, yet there is such comfort in knowing that when you go home you know that there may be hot food on the table, family awaiting your arrival and a comfortable place to live in and be your refuge. Although there are some of us who are truly blessed with more than what we need, others have merely nothing in their stomachs and not even a piece of cloth to comfort them.

Meet "Lola" Jean, she is 72 years old and is living in Cebu, Philippines. She has been a Widow since she was 35 years old and has raised all 5 children on her own. Time passed, and time has not been a friend, where all of her kids slowly had to go on and make families of their own and move along. Lola Jean has stayed, when her children made wrong decisions in their lives, such as early pregnancy, she was there. She took hold of the responsibility in raising her grandchildren, and yes, I was one of the first.

She's a tiny old woman with lots of love in her. Lots of love to give. I remember one time when I was little, not having enough food to eat and when she knew I wanted more, she pretended that she didn't like the friend chicken and she gave it to me. (and then I knew fried chicken was her favorite) She is the best. I want to do this for her. For all the grandparents out there, who never forgot their children and grand children, for those who always put US FIRST, before them.

Unfortunately her lovely home, where she raised us all was wrecked by the Typhoon Haiyan last 2013 where also one of the strongest earth quake also shook our grounds. Her house was destroyed. With not much money to fix it continued to deteriorate up to date. Rainy seasons have come and I have witnessed rainfall, not droplets, waterfall like situations inside her house.

It hurts me, that her home, the only living memory of her husband is going to someday fall to the ground. If only I have enough money to rebuild it, but I don't. I've recently graduated and I'm looking for a job. I help her with bills in the house and I don't make enough with my online selling. So, I am here. I want to come up with enough money to rebuild her house, as best as it could be. She won't live long. I have still not accepted that. She has also recently been diagnosed with L Ventricular Ischemia, where a part of her heart doesn't receive that much oxygen. It really, really kills me. I want her to be happy. I want her to know that there are a lot of good things in life and mostly good people amidst the cruel world we live in.

She got diagnosed with L Ventricular Ischemia :(
