The proposed project aims at ensuring skills development to 300 victims and survivors of the recent catastrophes of Landslides in Bududa District, Eastern Uganda , which is due to the fact that mass population of victims are experiencing high poverty levels, unemployment, lack of small scale enterprises due to destruction of properties ranging from; farms, houses, small scale businesses and livestock which are sources of income for the rural people in Bududa District.
This year on 4th June, a number of people were confirmed dead and dozens went missing after fresh landslides caused by heavy rains hit several villages in Buwali and Bukalasi sub counties in Bududa district, Eastern Uganda. The landslides occurred at about 11:30 pm on Tuesday after four hours of rain that started pouring the area at about 7pm. In the process, many people got displaced, confused and stranded with nothing to hold onto as majority lost almost all their properties, businesses, livestock, farms and families, thus leaving them in high levels of scorching poverty and homelessness.
This has therefore led to the emergence of NERVE TO SERVE, a humanitarian development agency whose sole focus is to ensure that young people grow up with and develop leadership technical, innovation and life skills to thrive and not merely survive in life. Therefore in this regard, the organization has embarked on a quest of skilling 200 male and female Bududa landslides victims to better their lives by equipping them with vocational skills in terms of ; welding and steel works training, tailoring training, carpentry, craft making, catering services, chalk making, modern farming, and financial literacy to contribute to the betterment of their lives.
