The aim is to build a community and education centre for the Kaya Muhaka people in the southern coastal region of Kenya. The BIG FOUNDATION have identified several initiatives that will deliver long term, tangible economic benefits to this community through education, eco-tourism and conservation. During this weeks trip we will enhance and protect an area from Kaya Muhaka to the coast in order to secure the long-term survival of its biodiversity. At the same time, we will develop initiatives that will deliver long term, tangible economic benefits to this community through eco-tourism and conservation.
The project has four distinct phases:
- Phase 1 – Establish an indigenous tree nursery, to provide the local community with an income from selling the plants.
- Phase 2 – Convert a building into a dedicated education centre for local children and international tourists.
- Phase 3 – Build a canopy level platform/walkway to provide visitors with a unique perspective of the forest and its wildlife.
- Phase 4 – Create wildlife corridors to allow the forest animals safe passage between the kayas which will reduce human- wildlife conflict.
ALL DONATIONS WILL GO TO THE BIG FOUNDATION !
