Jasmi bin Budin, also known as Amy by his students, is a father figure in drum set music education in Malaysia. His small studio lies in the back alley of Prima Tanjung, where students of all ages come for affordable but life-changing weekly lessons. His upheld quality of teaching is reflected in his countless students, two of which have been awarded scholarships to attend Berklee College of Music, and one of which formed the award-winning Malaysian indie rock band, Volatile.
Due to the recent events of COVID-19, his band gigs and studio work have been cancelled, plus many of his students have chosen to discontinue lessons due to it being held online. With his decrease in income, Jasmi is two months behind rent and is using most of his current earnings via online classes to buy food for his family. Fear of eviction is growing day by day.
In the face of his dire situation, we - Jasmi's students (Jia Wen, Gabriel and Sean) - have decided to organize a charity campaign, The Budin Big Boi Fund for our very esteemed teacher.
Donated funds will be used for:
1. Outstanding Rent Payment for his home.
2. Outstanding Rent Payment for his studio.
3. Establishing an Emergency Fund for him and his children.
Any amount of donation counts, however small! All donations go
directly to Jasmi’s bank account. We do not take any form of
remuneration and are doing this purely to support our teacher.
If you have a Malaysian bank account, you can ensure 100% of your donations go directly to Jasmi at:
Hong Leong Bank
If you have a bank account outside of Malaysia, you can donate via PayPal through our GoGetFunding.com website.
We are counting on your support in the belief that kindness matters in our lives, more so in these difficult times.
As an incentive for funding, Jasmi and the three of us are offering services for donations above a certain amount:
A minimum of RM100 will entitle you to an online private lesson from Jia Wen (Drums, Electronic Music Production), Gabriel (Drums, Mixing, Arrangement, Composition) or Sean (Drums, Songwriting).
A minimum of RM200 will entitle you to an online private lesson from Jasmi. (Drum Set required)
A minimum of RM400 entitles you to procure services from Jia Wen (Music Production) Gabriel (Drum Recording, Music Production, Arrangement and Composition) or Sean (Songwriting) to help work on your own music project.
As a special package, Jasmi is offering an intensive 8-day crash course on Drumming for minimum donations of RM1000. (Drum Set required, Flexible pacing)
In order to register for the services, just donate, send us a screenshot of the transaction and fill in this form https://forms.gle/Dv5KzkpfyiGFVKho6
