Birthday fundraising to support brave Myanmar people in their fight for freedom!

Dear family and friends around the World,

As I will be turning 30 soon, I decided to dream big for my 30th anniversary on this planet! 💛

Throughout my stay in Thailand for the last year, I have been encountering so many kind-hearted and friendly Burmese people, who have a huge part in making this island so beautiful! It breaks my heart to know that most of them are separated from their families, feeling fearful or worried, not knowing when/if they are going to go back to their own country.

That's why I feel responsible to give back and support Myanmar people in their fight to get back their freedom from the military coup.

What is happening in Myanmar

For the past 10 years, the Myanmar people have fought hard to build upon their freedom.

On Feb 1, Myanmar military took power overnight, refusing to recognise the last democratic election results, jailed the country's elected leaders and sent tanks into the streets to intimidate the population..

The problem for the generals is that the Myanmar people are not afraid. They have seen this before. They know what comes next and they refuse to accept this fate for their children. They have started a Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) , abandoned their jobs and started protesting non-violently with pot-banging and their voices on the streets everyday, risking their lives, for Freedom and Democracy. Despite the escalating violence, thousands of peaceful civilians gather day after day, facing the guns of the military, being killled day after day.

As of today, at least 2,175 people have been detained, and at least 183 protestors have been killed by military or police forces. Most of these are the bright and young generation of this beautiful country, risking their lives to refuse a future under dictatorship.

Why we should care

This problem may be Myanmar's, but the ability of a rogue government to shut down, manipulate and control information is a reality for many countries around the world, including my own country Turkey, which has gone through similar hurricanes and still being ruled under an unofficial authoritarian dictatorship.

If the Myanmar people win this fight, they win it for all of us. If they lose, neighboring countries and other bad actors around the world will normalize this practice. We can't allow this to happen! 👐

What can be done

With a kind donation, you can help the brave people of Myanmar to prolong and expand the non-violent protests as much as possible, preferably from their homes, keep striking without risking their lives everyday on the streets.

All proceeds from this fund will be donated to participants in the Civil Disobedience Movement, who will coordinate donations on the ground from food donations to local clinics, families in need or independent journalists.

The Myanmar people have a right to raise their children in peace and in freedom. And they need our help urgently!

I'd like to reach the goal of raising30,000 Baht by the 30th of this March and transfer the money to the most effective charity connected to CDM 🌟
