Hello, my name is Bryce River Saunders

I am in my second year of my motion picture degree at AFDA in Durban (South Africa) I am majoring in directing and screenwriting, in order to pursue my passion in the arts.
The reason I want to follow this path is because of my belief that film and storytelling have a unique ability to touch people and inspire a positive change in them.

So, a little about my motivation: Upon leaving high school at the end of 2017 I went on to work with children as a camp councilor for a year. Over the course of that year I developed a deep love for people. Something about touching the lives of these young people I worked with felt fundamentally right. This sparked the decision to study film, as it was a platform to reach out to a far wider group of people and hopefully share a little happiness with them.
I am an aspiring author, nearing completion of my first novel, and well into writing my second and third. A love for reading as a child inspired me to start writing at fifteen. The characters on the page were the role models I looked up to in my younger years. This made me realize the value of stories in shaping a kinder and more humane generation of humans.
At this moment in time I have written and directed two short films, my first year film, 'Courageous' is on YouTube (https://youtu.be/N3xIHOvJGx0) while the Covid - 19 virus shut down post production of the second.
Last year I achieved A's for all of my subjects which were Screen acting, Stage acting, Editing, VFX, directing and screenwriting, With my average mark this year sitting at 91% for production course (which is the theory section of the year.) I am a dedicated and hardworking student, who always gives a hundred percent.

Unfortunately last year was a bit of a financial disaster for my family, my dad decided to resign from his job in Nigeria after his employer had only payed him for 1.5 months out of the nine months he had worked there. Because of this, he is trying to get back on his feet again, which has put my financial support on hold. Due to my parent's financial situation we were unable to take out a student loan for the year.
To cover my own personal experiences I work as a waiter, and therefore this campaign is only to cover my tuition fees.
The tuition fees for my degree come to R91 235 for the year (4 944$)

Realistically, I need to leave university for the rest of this year (2020) and pick up where I left off next year (2021), and would love to raise the funds before the beginning of next year, however if it were possible to raise the funds sooner, I would be able to rejoin my degree this year, and get to making films even sooner... which would be amazing!

If this has touched you in any way, and if you would like to be a part of my story I would love to get to know you better, so please message meif you're interested. If you would like to see what I am working on at the moment, send me a message and I'll send you the first couple chapters of my novel.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you do chose to donate towards helping me reach my dreams, I will not be able to thank you enough.
