Campaign Story
Hi, our names are Emily and Lewis and we are fundraising for our German Shepherd Bruno. He is a high-spirited young guy, who will be turning three in September. Never did we imagine such a healthy and vibrant dog would have been diagnosed with something so deadly.
The evening of August 4 he was acting unlike himself and progressively worsening enough for us to take him into the vet to get checked out. Unbeknownst to us, he had a bulla (a large pulmonary bleb, which is a collection of air between the lung and the outer surface of the lung) in the upper lobe of his left lung. Typically there will be no symptoms present unless it bursts, which explains how his onset symptoms came abruptly, seemingly out of nowhere. This bulla ruptured, causing air to escape into his chest cavity resulting in a pneumothorax (air between the lung and chest cavity). This puts pressure on the internal organs, namely the heart and lungs, and is fatal if left untreated. He had a CT scan that shows two areas that are continuously leaking air from his lung into his chest cavity.
We are fundraising for the costs of his stay in the ICU at Emergency veterinary hospital and his CT scan + surgery to remove the leaking portions in his lung.
Please donate if you can as we navigate this nightmare. Even the smallest amount helps and we will be forever grateful for your support in keeping Bruno in our lives. He is a main part of our family unit and cannot bear to see him in such distress. Thank you.
