Campaign Story
Hi.
I'm a parent and spend thousands of Rands per year to keep my little one in School. Schools in South Africa are only partially funded by the government. The rest of the fees, especially the backlog on unpaid fees needs to be recovered by the School. So, they end up begging for money... constantly.
Now I honestly sympathize with this, but, in the same breath I also get very annoyed every time the school sends us one of those... "Collect R1000 and stand a chance to enter the draw to win this (usually a black and white picture) tin of soup, signed by the principle".
I feel that I might be more willing to part with my hard-earned cash if the fundraiser is perhaps more "rewarding" for me or my child.
Soooo...
Here is my solution.
BroodCollectable
playing cards.
Trademark
pending
These are business card
sized playing cards that the children can swap out and play card games with. We
propose to promote and sell these cards for 1 term (3 Months). Based on sales
we can run other creative promotional and fund raising events.
How will
it raise funds?
The cards will be sold
at the School's tuck-shop at R5 per card.
Each
child will need at least 4 cards to play Broodulution or Battle Broods.
Thus we are looking at a minimum spend of R20 per child.
Where we are with the project currently
The cards will be sold during the second trimester at Wolraad
Woltemade School as the first pilot project. It is my hope that
if this initiative is met with success that we will branch out and offer this
fundraising vehicle to other schools. We can also create other items like
custom dolls, pencil cases and a host of paraphernalia that we can offer to
schools to sell as part of their funding initiatives.
Howyou can help.
To have the
first set of cards printed for sale we need to raise enough funds for the first
print run. We also need additional funds to create posters and have the packaging
materials printed.
We will reward our donors with cards if we can raise enough funds to make the
first success print run. We will also post a video to show the printed cards
once the very first run is complete.
I'm very excited about this project. I hope that you are too.
Much Thanks
Sandy and the HatsOn team.
