Brixton Soup Kitchen was founded in January 2013 by two Brixton residents, Solomon Smith and Mahamed Hashi, who identified the need for a community space for homeless people in Brixton.
Brixton Soup Kitchen provides food, drink and companionship in a warm and friendly environment, and has served over 40,000 meals since its opening. The centre also houses a food and clothes bank, and provides support through meetings such as weekly reading group Book at Breakfast, and Thursday Legal Help Evenings. Service users have been helped to find employment or housing, and others
have gained the confidence to enrol in training & further education.
The BSK also does regular outreach work, taking
hot food and clothing to those living on the street, and to families in
need across London.
The Soup Kitchen is now working towards becoming a recognised support
centre for the community as a whole. It is hoped that extra facilities
can be added to the centre, including expanded job seeking
support, advice on housing and benefits, and a night shelter for those in
dire need. But in order to achieve this, a lot of extra funding will be needed.

We think the BSK is a great charity, and we know they would appreciate whatever you can spare.
Thanks very much for your generosity!
