NEW UPDATE!! NEW UPDATE!! NEW UPDATE!!

Merry Christmas

Brixton Soup Kitchen is doing some amazing work to support the homeless during Christmas. We go above and beyond to provide much-needed assistance and a sense of community to those in need.

During the holiday season, Brixton Soup Kitchen organizes special events and initiatives to ensure that the homeless in the Brixton area have a warm and festive experience. They offer hot meals, warm clothing, and essential supplies to those who may not have access to them otherwise.

One of their notable initiatives is the Christmas Day meal. Brixton Soup Kitchen opens its doors on Christmas Day to serve a delicious and hearty meal to those who may not have anywhere else to go. This not only provides nourishment but also creates a welcoming and inclusive space for individuals to come together and celebrate.

In addition to the Christmas Day meal, Brixton Soup Kitchen also distributes care packages filled with essential items such as toiletries, warm clothing, and blankets. These packages are distributed throughout the holiday season, ensuring that individuals have the necessary resources to stay safe and comfortable during the cold winter months.

What sets Brixton Soup Kitchen apart is their commitment to fostering a sense of community and empowerment. They provide support services such as counseling, job training, and assistance with finding accommodation.

By addressing the root causes of homelessness, they aim to help individuals rebuild their lives and regain their independence.

The efforts of Brixton Soup Kitchen are truly inspiring, and they rely heavily on the support of volunteers and donations from the community.

If you're interested in getting involved, you can consider donating your time, resources, or even spreading the word about their incredible work.

BACK 2 SCHOOL DRIVE!!!

Lets Help Give Young People The Best Start To There School Year

We are aiming to raise £8,000 to provide over 3,000 children with brand new full school uniform

Brixton Soup Kitchen is looking to raise £8,000 to buy new school uniform, bags, shoes, and school supplies.

According to recent statistics, London has one of the highest poverty rates in the UK. In fact, over 2.3 million people in London are living in poverty, which is nearly 28% of the city's population. This includes many families with children who struggle to make ends meet.

One of the challenges these families face is providing their children with new school uniforms. School uniforms can be expensive, and many families simply cannot afford to buy them. In fact, a recent survey found that 1 in 6 parents in the UK struggle to afford school uniforms, with some families spending up to £340 per child.

As a result, many children in London are going back to school without new uniforms. This can be a source of embarrassment and shame for these children, who may feel like they don't fit in with their peers. It can also have a negative impact on their academic performance, as they may feel self-conscious and distracted in the classroom.

That's why initiatives like the back-to-school drive are so important. By providing students with new uniforms and other essential supplies, we can help alleviate some of the financial burden that families face. This can help students feel more confident and prepared in the classroom, which can have a positive impact on their academic performance.

In summary, poverty is a significant issue in London, with many families struggling to make ends meet. One of the challenges these families face is providing their children with new school uniforms. Initiatives like the back-to-school drive can help alleviate some of the financial burden that families face and ensure that every student has the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.

We are looking for a big push in donations!!!!!!. You can donate via our Go Fund Me page: https://goget.fund/4554Ocu or by dropping NEW SCHOOL UNIFORM & SCHOOL SUPPLIES at the soup kitchen based in Brixton Domino community centre based on Coldharbour Lane

The number of homeless Londoners has doubled in the last two years so it is more important than ever to support those most in need.

BSK also wants to become a recognised support centre for the community as a whole. Providing extra facilities including job search support, advice on housing and benefits and a night shelter for those in dire need.

** Brixton Soup Kitchen is a OPEN door sercive, We are just based in Brixton but we cater & help feed the world **

BSK

Brixton Soup Kitchen is community space for homeless people or people in desperate need. The Soup Kitchen aspires to provide food, drink and companionship in a warm and friendly environment on a weekly basis. Since that time we have served over 425,000 meals either eaten on site or distributed during food drop offs and outreach sessions.

Since starting the 'Brixton Soup Kitchen' we have received food donations from Pret A Manager, Greggs, Nandos, Satay Brixton, Marks and Spencer’s and media support from The Voice Newspaper, Channel 4 and The South London Press who awarded us with the 'Our Hero's Award' in April 2013 as well as being nominated in the Independent on Sunday’s Happy 100 list and being featured in the Evening Standard’s top 1000 influential list 2015 - 2020.

We have also appeared in a number of national programs including Surprise Surprise and BBQ Champ 2015. The word about the good work at 'Brixton Soup Kitchen' has been spreading which would not have been possible without the support we receive from our volunteers and unpaid staff members.

The soup Kitchen is now is working towards becoming a recognised support centre for the community as a whole. It is hoped that extra facilities can be added to the already popular centre including job searching support, advice on housing and benefits and a night shelter for those in dire need. However in order to achieve this, a lot of support will be needed.

#BSKCovid19ResponseTeam

Brixton Soup Kitchen (BSK) is continuing to provide food and emergency packs to the homeless, elders and less fortunate families.

Its Covid-19 Response Team was set up as an emergency response when the kitchen had to close its doors to the homeless and other people it had been helping.

Throughout lockdown, BSK has been providing them with meal packs that include face masks as well as hand sanitiser thanks to the London homeless charity Hearts and Helpers.

BSK delivers 150-200 grocery bags/boxes and more than 500 prepared meals each week. It also makes weekly phone calls and supportive contact for over 100 people.

The number of food parcels BSK delivers increases every week. Throughout the lockdown, BSK has been getting a lot of referrals from councils, the NHS, social workers, police and, most of all, social media.
