Henrik Ibsen's final play, 'When We Dead Awaken' was recently staged in Singapore by the Intercultural Theatre Institute's final year cohort, under the direction of Sankar Venkateswaran. Sooner than we'd expected, we were asked to perform it again at the Vishwa Manava International Theatre Festival in Shimoga, Karnataka, on the 19th of April 2018 - and that's in nearly 3 weeks' time!

Vishwa Manava International Theatre Festival has given us around S$2,000, which will be used to cover the cost of set building and labor in Shimoga, and will also cover most of the cost of airfares for all five performers to and from India.

They will also cover costs of our accommodation, and transport expenses in India.

The funds raised here will go towards:

— Paying off the remaining cost of our airfares.

— A small fee for our director and stage manager.

— S$10 per diem allowance for each cast and crew member.

— Visas for three of the cast; one Singaporean, one Malaysian and one Australian.

— Immunisations against various illnesses for the cast.

— Travel insurance for all performers whilst in India.

— Prop and costume maintenance.

Any minor adjustments to the budget that results in money being left over will be donated to the Intercultural Theatre Institute’s Möbius fund (https://iti.give.asia/mobiusfund)

It's a fair bit within a short time, so every dollar donated is deeply appreciated by all of us.

To our friends in Singapore, we will be having a small studio showing of our final rehearsal on the 13th of April 2018, 7.30pm. There will be some light snacks and drinks after the show, along with lots of mingling and laughter. Whether you've seen the show or not, all are welcome to join us!
