We need some support to raise funds to help get our beautiful little ThaiRidgeback girl back to South Africa with us. Help us get her back to her forever home. We are looking at leaving Thailand around June 2019 and move back to South Africa. Leaving our little girl behind is not an option. The kind of bond that we have can never be broken. You can read more about us down below.

Recently we have contacted several airlines, airports as well as agencies who deal with relocation of animals. Did not expect it to be so difficult and so expensive. We are trying to raise 5580usd to be able to bring her home with us.

So far we have started preparing her for the trip back. She has already received her identity chip and also been neutered.

ABOUT US:

In 2013 we decided to try working abroad. My partner and me, decided on Thailand at the time. For those of you have have been to Thailand, you'll know that there are a lot of street dogs wandering the streets. We tried to do what we can to help some of these street dogs. We slowly started taking in dogs where possible. At one point, we were taking care of around 13 dogs. Feeding them, keeping them vaccinated and having them spayed or neutered. One morning when going to feed the dogs, we found 12 of the 13 dogs have been poisoned. Sugar, luckily did not ingest any of the poison. Here is her story:

STORY OF SUGAR:
It all started on the 20th of June 2015. My partner and me were riding along a beach road, when something suddenly ran across the road and had a slamming onto the brakes. We immediately pulled to the side to see what it was, and we saw this tiny and cute little puppy dog. My partner tried to approach the puppy as it was injured, but no success. I then sat down in the middle of the road and the puppy came running to me and jumped onto my lap. Right there and then, we decided that we are taking the puppy back with us. Abandoned in the middle of nowhere.

This is where our journey with Sugar (a.k.a Girrr-Girrr) started.
We were about 50 km from home and were fortunate enough to have a neighbor who is a vet. We went straight to his practice to have the puppy checked out. She was clearly in pain and starving. At the time she was around 4 weeks old, malnourished and weak, with fractured ribs as well as some skin issues. The skin took the longest time to heal.

(After getting her first bath on the day she was found.)

She was so scared that we just could not get it over our heart to leave her there, so we managed to convince the vet to come to our house and put the IV in there so we can be with her in a less stressful environment. Looked like she has already been through enough at the time.

Below video taken when we brought her home to feed her after she was found. She was starving, and this was probably the first time she ever had a full stomach.

Below photo showing her progress after about a months on treatment. Photo was taken in office. We made sure we kept an eye on her always.

Below photos taken the second day of her staying with us and sleeping in our bed.

After about a year of her living with us, we found a lump in her ear. She was taken to the vet and it was a cancerous growth that was luckily picked up early and could be cut out.

(Recovery time)

It has now been almost 7 years that we have been living and working in Thailand. It is also been more than three years now that Sugar is a crucial part in our lives. Taking her with us wherever we go. She changed us. She entertains us. She calms me when I get angry. I would think that is is safe to say that she is my service dog/therapist. There is no way that we can imagine our lives without this beautiful girl in our lives. We have been through so much together already!!!

A recent photo of our little girl, Sugar.

My partner got a tattoo of Sugars actual paw print.

We would be forever grateful to anyone that helps us out. We have started an Instagram Page for her where we will be keeping people up to date on her travels and progress made (@girrrgirrr). I would also gladly offer to pay back when possible to anyone who helps make this trip happen. Anything to be able to bring our girl back to her forever home with us.

I have a background in IT so I would even be willing to offer remote support to those who donate and ever come across some computer issues. Anything that I can be of assistance to help pay back those who help us get our little girl back home.

Here is some lost footage of some of the other dogs that we took care of before someone decided to poison these beautiful creatures.

Hoping for the best!!!!

Finally received the import permit for Sugar. Next stage is to have her blood taken and sent to a lab in Singapore for testing. They test for several kinds of diseases. The vet has to be a government approved facility to take the blood, 7ml total, and their lab has. . . . .
