Bringing happinness to indigenous children!

Cabagra is an indigenous territory located in the south part of Costa Rica. This place is known for its indigenous cultures, and also because of its high poverty rate. There are not many job options for the people who live there. The population has been abandoned and government help has been neglected for many years. Children are the ones who suffer because of this lack of opportunities.

I want to help those children by opening a Daycare that will benefit them in a good way. I want to provide, not only proper food for them but also educational reinforcement, love, affection, and an excellent experience at the Daycare. As a fact, there are no Daycares within the territories. The unique Daycare is 2 hours away, by car. The project will positively impact more than 80 children and their families. My project is said to help those families in need that beg for a helping hand for their children.

The project will also benefit those women who are looking for better opportunities regarding the study field. When they go to study, they have to travel to faraway communities, and most of the time they cannot leave their children with people they trust. As a result, they have to quit studying. Men also have to look for farm jobs that are the only type of job that exists in the territory. In the end, they have to choose: Men go to work, or women go to study. They cannot do both, because they do not have someone else to take care of their children. The Daycare will provide the best option for those families who need to leave their children in the right hands. We went house by house to talk about the project proposal, and all of the people said that it was necessary for them to have a Daycare place for their children. In that way, they will be able to go for better opportunities, and also they will feel comfortable to know that their children are under the right protection.

I want you to help me to collect the money necessary to set the basic budget to start with this project. I want to keep helping the territory by giving children the opportunity to be happy in a good environment, with the best attention from us. I am a foreign language teacher who has around 7 years working for the Ministry of Public Education in Costa Rica, and I want to keep giving my best to those children who really need a Daycare in their territory.
