Thandi Sambo, an occupational health therapist, has been supporting the disabled of Lulekani for many years and has created a day-care centre for both disabled children and adults. Situated in one of the poorest area’s, surrounding the little town of Phalaborwa, in the north-eastern part of South Africa, people here have to cope with an unemployment rate of over 50% (!) and many of these people, and especially parents of disabled children, can not afford to have nutritious meals each day.

The day-care centre has managed to create a large community-vegetable-garden during the last 2 years to help feed the disabled at the centre as well the community. Surplus veggies are given to the most needed families in the area or are sold, to get much needed income for the centre. Unemployed- and disabled adults learn in this garden how to grow their own vegetables in a sustainable way, to be able to take care of themselves, and the children, in the future.

Recently the borehole probably collapsed and the water pump broke down and now the vegetable garden’s gain has gone down to almost zero, creating a water-shortage that affects all involved and especially the food availability and hygiene situation at the centre.

Our mission is to help Thandi Sambo to restore immediately the functionality oft the water pump and to ensure daily meals for the disabled. But another very important goal is to improve the hygienic- and safety situation in the centre by upgrading the toilets and wash-up buildings. In this way disabled children and the disabled adults don’t need to share the same toilet and wash-up facilities - hopefully - in the future.

Claudia & Robin from “Claudia Schnell | 7 Senses Safaris” have recognized this urgent need and are committed to make sure, that all donations find their direct way to the disabled centre. With your donation the disabled day-care centre at Lulekani can be successful again and has the chance to work as a self sustainable project - in the future!

Dear Lulekani water-borehole donor, Now after almost 8 months we can start seeing the effects of your generous donation towards the drilling of a new borehole and the installation of a borehole pump to re-connect the Lulekani disabled center to their water-source. We are thrilled to report you that through. . . . .
