Last year I had the amazing opportunity to volunteer in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico to help rebuild the homes of those who had lost everything in the terrible destruction of hurricane Maria. On that trip, I realized the people there left a bigger impact on me than I could ever have left on them. Afterwards, I made a promise to myself to volunteer abroad somewhere new each year.
As you all may know, Venezuela is in a heart wrenching humanitarian crisis. Volunteerism there has been cutoff, but I still wanted to help aid those from Venezuela in someway or another.
This year I have chosen to volunteer in Bogota, Colombia. This country has opened up their arms to welcome almost 1.5 million people who have migrated from Venezuela in need of aid over recent years. Unfortunately, this too is causing strain on Colombia and without assistance they may not be able to cope.
My one week trip will start on Monday, July 1st. with an amazing organization named IVHQ. While there, I will be helping with the overcrowding of orphanages, and creating warm meals for those who unfortunately are without a home. I can't wait to explore the beautiful country that has been so loving to people in a world so cruel.
Please help me attain my goal of volunteering abroad and raising funds to assist the main base camp I will be residing in during my stay. Without the help of others, these bases cannot keep their doors open. Every contribution helps, and if you can't contribute please send a prayer to those in Venezuela and its neighboring countries.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
I hope you follow me on my journey to help the world one volunteer abroad project at a time.
