Brendan Goldie Open Heart Surgery

Meet Brendan Goldie a loving, happy and healthy 29 year old young man in the prime of his life. Brendan loves the outdoors, socializing with friends, spending time with his family and being out on the track, racing around on his motorbike. Imagine the shock that hit his world, when he went for a corona virus clearance to apply for a visa, and being told you have heart irregularities and you need to see a heart specialist sooner than later. He has had not symptoms or felt sick in any way. Brendan saw a very prominent heart specialist in Cape Town on Thursday of last week. The news was worse than we could imagine, the diagnosis was Open heart surgery to replace a leaking heart valve - the operation needs to take place sooner than later, as the heart could shut down at an time, due to the strain. We are waiting to see a heart surgeon to discuss the pending operation. Medical aid costs are extremely high, and because Brendan has led such a healthy lifestyle he never made it a priority to get medical cover. The costs of the operation is in the region of +_ R550 000 and the waiting period at one of the government hospitals is 3 to 6 months, he does not have that amount of time.
