This is to help and build fund for Teacher Gina, mother of one of my closest colleague in our company. Currently Teacher Gina is facing her fight with the BIG C. She was diagnosed with Metastatic Adenocarcinoma (Lung Cancer). Let us help to give her the chance to comfortably breathe again without any artificial help and eventually eliminate the BIG C. Let us work hand in hand to help Teacher Gina.

The Story from Gianne's (my friend)

This is my mother (Teacher Gina). She is a public-school teacher for 35 years. She is teaching 5th grade and Mathematics in Samal North Elementary School in Bataan.

She is battling Lung Cancer. (not a smoker)

My mother is a very selfless person. Aside from being a public school teacher, she is a very loving mother. She may not be a perfect teacher, colleague or friend but she is a perfect mother, wife and daughter in law.

I have so many dreams for her. I haven’t done so much for her and now the biggest challenge came.

Last April 19, 2018, I brought her to Emergency of the Medical City due to difficulty of breathing where she was confined for 2 days (April 20 -21). During this time, final diagnosis was bronchial asthma and pneumonia.

At home, when we checked x-ray result, we saw pulmonary nodules and a note recommending CT scan. After a week, we went back to the medical city for a follow up checkup because her condition has not changed and we mentioned what we saw from the x-ray. From there, the doctor requested for another x-ray for next week’s checkup.

On the following week, my mother’s condition worsened. X-ray result worsened (more haziness). The doctor advised to confine her for more tests. She was confined from May 5 – May 12 where she underwent different procedures/tests like ct scan, biopsy, d dimer, ultrasound, 2d echo, blood tests and so on.During this confinement, final diagnosis was Metastatic Adenocarcinoma (Lung Cancer). Tumor was already near heart causing her difficulty in breathing.

The health card, I enrolled for her was fully consumed this time. Thanks to my friends who lend us some money to pay for the excess billing.

We were, referred to an oncologist (specialist for cancer) for my mother’s condition. We were also requested to undergo Immunohistochemistry test to check the kind of cancer. While waiting for the result, on midnight of May 20 we rushed her again to ER of Medical City due to difficulty of breathing and high blood pressure. She was confined until May 21.

The Oncologist requested to have EGFR test to know what type of treatment she needs to undergo. However, EGRF had invalid result, so the doctor advised to schedule for chemotherapy. During the time of waiting, my mother was confined at Lung Center of the Philippines from June 11 to June 19 due to difficulty of breathing. During this time, our Doctor decided to have her first chemotherapy on June 18. We were released on June 19. The Doctor advised about the effect of chemo, that it will be very difficult for my mother. She has no appetite and feels very weak. Few days after, my mother can no longer bear the effect and we decided to confine her again last June 23. She was released last June 25.

My mother is scheduled for second chemotherapy on July 9, 2018 but was moved to July 17, 2018 because we are waiting for the medicines from PCSO.The chemotherapy procedure is to be done at The Lung Center of the Phillippines.

Currently, she is dependent in oxygen tank in order to breath properly. Everyday, we need to refill oxygen tank. She needs to take home medications as well and scheduled for 6 cycles of chemotherapy.

In order to continue support for my mother’s medication, I asked for assistance from PCSO (Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office) and OVP (Office of the Vice President). For PCSO, we can get 3 or 4 medicines for her chemo. For OVP, I have requested for schedule interview for the assistance and is waiting for the confirmation of schedule.

I am also requesting for your support for my Nanay (Teacher Gina) whatever you can find in your heart. A little financial assistance and and mostly prayers for her.

“Pray, hope, and don't worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer.”
