We plan to offer an entertainment establishment that facilitates for people of all ages, sexes and abilities. We want to try to help bring the community back together by providing a range of activities for the mothers and babies, children, youth, in fact everyone (full details below). As a Community Interest Company ALL profits must stay local so we can improve the facilities we offer and invest in projects like events, charities more permanent fixtures like improving local parks and skate parks (council allowing). I feel it will be a great start to rejuvenating Andover. Breakers is going to be vibrant, lively, friendly and full of energy - This will bring people back to town, and then spend their money there rather than Basingstoke, Salisbury or Southampton.
While offering somewhere safe and dry for youths we will also work alongside local charities including Andover Mind, The Junction, Neighbourcare, VIP’s and PAPYRUS, to name a few. We will offer signposting, raise awareness, hold fundraising events and try to let people know regardless of age they are not alone! In 2012 a friend decided she could not go on and decided to take her life. Then early last year my step sons best friend took his life too. This made me do some research. The shocking truth is that according to statistics Andover has a suicide rate is 2-3 times the national average of 12 per 100,000 people. It is hard to imagine how many lives have been affected by the death of the 18 people that have taken their lives in the last 2 years in Andover. If we want to help lower youth crime, suicides of all ages and improve our town we need to start somewhere and we need your help. If we can help just 1 person think twice about their actions I think you will agree it has been worth it. The Whats The local bowling alley used to be a great place for all to go. In any one day you could see families, youths, O.A.P’s and groups celebrating.
To replace the bowling, replace the lift and do a light refurbishment we needed to raise £160,000. We have a few agreements which means we now need about £105,000. Thanks to the Lotto, a private donor, TVBC, HCC, Simply Health and sponsorship we have approximately £90,000!!! This means we are down to £15,000. If you think you can help in ANY way all help is gratefully received. Whether this is holding staff dress down days, spare bodies to help with the clean up, raising awareness, fundraising or community funds you business might have. Full details available on request.
