Campaign Story
Apollo Leon was born with an imperforate anus, a rare congenital disorder that affects 1 in 5000 babies. He is required to undergo 3 surgeries to correct the deformity.
1st surgery - COLOSTOMY - a surgical procedure that brings one end of the large intestine out through the abdominal wall - making a stoma. A stoma is the opening in the skin where a pouch for collecting waste is attached. (done at birth)
2nd surgery - Posterior Sagittal Anorectoplasty (PSARP), a surgical technique to correct the anorectal malformation. (done after reaching weight of >5kg)
3rd surgery - CLOSING OF COLOSTOMY (done once PSARP has healed)
At 2 days old, he had his 1st surgery.
At 3months old, he has met the criteria to undergo his 2nd surgery. However, due to the pandemic, it has been postponed. 😔
NOW, since hospitals are accepting surgeries again, and many people are vaccinated, we went to see the surgeon. And, Leon is cleared to have his surgery.
We are knocking on your kind hearts to help raise funds to support the surgery. Please support and share this fund raiser to help Leon fight his battle and lead him to a normal childhood.
