Campaign Story
I am Kennedy Kanyi, a BSc Information Technology graduate at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. I am currently running Oneplace Technologies Ltd, an ICT company in Kenya. I have always had passion teaching people how to code, something in which I have great knowledge. I started Brace Kids as a way of expanding my skills and knowledge to kids, who apparently hold the future of our continent.
Brace Kids is a free initiative to educate one million kids between 7-17 years how to code. Our aim is to nurture a generation of the next young and successful software developers in Africa. We look forward to be the minds behind the next big names in the technology industry. This funding is intended to support Kid's coding hubs in 4 African countries, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia. Each hub will have a capacity of 200 kids. Kids.
Brace Kids offers hope for the technology industry of Africa. Many of the most successful software developers started coding while they were kids. However, getting this knowledge is not easy especially for African kids. Brace Kids offers to give this knowledge for free. The aim is to teach One Million Kids across the continent how to code.
The funding received from this campaign will help Brace Kids set up four educational hubs for kids in Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia. These hubs will be the first in a network of other proposed centers in every country in Africa. The hubs will act as educational centers which will run the kids educational campaigns for the respective country. The funding will also help in internal infrastructure installations for the hubs.
More Information
The Brace Kids initiative intends to raise $500,000 that will help setup coding education hubs for kids in the four countries as mentioned above, setup internal infrastructure, get branded t-shirts for the campaigns and promote the educational campaigns and enroll more and more interested kids.
In the case I don't reach my goal of $500,000, the money raised will be used to set up one hub in Kenya as I plan to fund raise the money for the other centers.
