Campaign Story
The Plan
We are going to build a bouldering wall in the gym at Yoga and Sport for Refugees.
Once the wall is in place, we plan to provide equipment and training so that the people stranded in refugee camps on the island of Lesvos can continue to practice the sport.
We will be taking part in some of our own sports challenges to help raise the funds needed for building equipment.
What is Bouldering?
Bouldering is a unique sport that has many benefits for both the body and mind. It is a form of climbing that involves climbing problems on shorter walls, without the use of ropes and harnesses. It relies on technique, strength, balance and problem solving. Bouldering gives a full body workout (using your legs is just as important as using your arms!) and the nature of the sport means that it is a perfect activity to encourage social and community development.
We believe that it will be an excellent addition to YSFR and perfectly compliments their ethos of finding empowerment, integration and solidarity through sports.
Yoga and Sport for Refugees
Yoga and Sport for Refugees is an organisation based in Lesvos, Greece, who work to improve the physical and mental well-being of refugees by empowering them through sports, as well as building a community and creating a sense of belonging and safety.

Time to start building!
Update posted by Antoine Bourcieu at 11:19 amHi everyone, we hope you're all doing well despite the situation. Here is a little update on the bouldering wall project. We have received more donations from another gym (USC-Amsterdam), many holds and bolts! All the material from Amsterdam is neatly packed in boxes and ready to be sent now.. . . . .
Our progress through Corona
Update posted by Antoine Bourcieu at 10:04 amAs you are well aware, Corona has been affecting everyone's lifestyle for the past couple of weeks. As most people are very focused on getting through this crisis, as climbing gyms are closed, and as events have been canceled, we will be unable to organise fundraising events nor progress with. . . . .
