Here in Oneno Village there are over 500 farmers and no active source of running water available in times without rainfall. This can make life very difficult for the population during the droughty season which can take upto 8 months of the year. During this time the women of the farms will have to travel potentially 5 kilometers inorder to collect water from the river.

A local farmer and teacher of permaculture in the area, Fredrick Omondi, decided to tackle this issue by digging a well with the help of his family members, however he did not strike water until digging 30 feet. This poses no issue for collection of the water in rainy seasons when it can fill upto just a few feet from ground level however, in the dry season collection from the well can be perilous without the correct infrastructure. That is why I am creating this fundraiser in order to assist with the purchasing and preparation of a water pumping system and water tank in the hopes of keeping the men and women of the community safe and ensuring the people of Oneno and also neighboring villages have access to clean water year round. This will enable them to feed themselves and their families year round. Thank you.
