In Bulgaria, Australia is known for coasts, sunsets, nice weather, surfers, koalas and kangaroos… and Nicole Kidman.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria is known for post-communism, greedy politicians, corruption, air-pollution, stray dogs and cats… and Hristo Stoichkov.

…and delicious food, beautiful nature and hospitable people.

But when we talk about art…. Sofia lacks the broad art scene. There are few events, some exhibitions, no Museum of Contemporary Art.

Still, there are people hungry for culture, hungry for modern art. There are people who try to conduct cultural events and audience who is starving for it.

BULGARIA IS UP OVER THE EQUATOR, AUSTRALIA IS DOWN BELOW THE EQUATOR

In Bulgaria winter is from December to February and it gets below -20C sometimes. In Australia winter is from June to August and it rarely gets below 7C.

In Bulgaria people drive in the right lane, in Australia people drive in the left lane.

When you are in Bulgaria, you can see a bright Pole star and the Great Bear in the sky. When you are in Australia, there is no Pole star, but you can see the majestic Southern Cross.

In Bulgaria people are not acquainted with Australian artists. Australian art is totally in the dark. maybe, because of these 15,000 km in-between…

AND THERE IS ME

Me, who want to turn things upside down (or at least to make small steps towards it). Me, who want to cross those 15,135.88 km from Sofia to Melbourne and help bring some Australian contemporary art to Bulgaria. Because I found it worth it. Because I believe no matter how long the distance is, borders should be crossed and cultures should be met. And what better way to do this than art.

COULD IT HAPPEN

Well, 42,000 euro could make the difference.

Wouldn’t it be nice, me, art lover who dream to go and make this MA in ‘Arts and Cultural Management’, staring In July at University of Melbourne. Me who want to be able to practice it around the world afterwards. And cross the ocean again, and help to expose some great Australian artworks in Bulgaria

WHAT I NEED

The most of the path is travelled. I already have the offer from the university. What I need to make the final step is the trivial thing, funding:

36,000 EUR - tuition fees,

2,500 - plane tickets, visa, health insurance

+/- 3,500 EUR - funding fees of this platform

Or 42,000 EURO in total… which I do not have.

BUT MAYBE YOU CAN HELP ME

Maybe you have some money in excess, love art, like the concept and want to help me to make this journey.

Thank you very much for your support!
