I am a single mom raising two boys (3 year old and a 9 year old), my oldest son (Tristan) was diagnosed with ADHD at a very young age. I chose not to medicate him until a few years ago when the baby was born. Tristan was always getting into trouble at daycare which I was required to pick him up early due to bad behaviour, he has been suspended and also kicked out of two daycares. When Tristan started elementary school, I would get calls several times regarding his behaviour. I decided to medicate Tristan for ADHD because he was extremely hyper and I was concerned for the safety of the baby. Tristan started school (grade 3) with being medicated for the first time and the school saw huge improvements and his teachers remarks would bring tears to my eyes. I have never heard anyone say good things about my son. It has been the hardest battle. I recently found out my son had been abused while visiting with his father, I blame myself for not seeing the warning signs. I contacted police and children's aid and they ultimately did nothing because I have full custody while his father remains with supervised visitations. Although his father did assault me, I never thought in a million years he would cause harm to our son. For over a year or so, his attitude has taken a turn for the worse and I am running out of options and patience. I can't hold down a job because Tristan requires so much of me and I'm physically, mentally  drained And now dealing with depression. Tristan has started stealing, caught him playing with matches, sneaky, very defiant, angry ect. I took a test and Tristan scored high for ODD (Oppositional defiant disorder) and ADHD (attention deficit disorder). Tristan has never had contact with his fathers side of the family (except with his father). His father has never been very active in his life, I got Tristan a Big Brother who has been together for about 4 years. It's great he spends time with his big brother often but I know he needs more structure and discipline.  What the money is for I am raising money to help send Tristan to boot camp school in Ontario as there is no funding or subsity available. The cost is $40,000 - $42,000 a year and not sure if tax is included in the price. The school starts at grade 6, is close to our home and the only boot camp school in Canada that I could find. I think boot camp will help Tristan get the help and confidence he needs to be a productive member of society. I love my son to pieces but I'm broken down and feel helpless. Tristan starts grade 5 this year and I'm hoping to raise the money for next year. Thank you for taking the time to read my story
