Help us raise the funds needed for our new library in Truro, NS. Funds from the town and county are insufficient to cover the essential costs for furniture, fixtures, computers, systems and equipment. The Colchester-East Hants Public Library Foundation has stepped in to help raise the $1 million needed. The Truro library houses the regional headquarters and serves 5 branches and 2 outreach sites across two counties. It serves people of all walks of life, seeing on average 2000 persons per week. The new library will feature accessibility throughout and several dedicated program rooms.

The rehabilitated heritage building that will house the library, opened as The Normal College in 1878, was one of a handful of others like it in other provinces which pioneered teacher education and the concept that one must also know “how” to teach. The new library is also the home of an an endangered chimney swifts, pains were taken to preserve the old chimney in the building as it is the only communal habitat in the county.

Thank you for helping our small community with you donation!
