On the 18th January 2014 my father died of a brain haemorrhage. I have always wanted to write a book about my father’s exception life and after his death I discovered a past I did know. He was orphaned and cared for by his 5 year sister in the streets of Nairobi living off garbage. What I didn’t realise was that my mother too was in a detention camp from the 8 years until she was 14 years. They lived during the state of emergency in Kenya at the end of the British rule. They endured untold suffering including beatings and torture. My father was amongst thousands of Ferrell orphaned children ignored by society. He was truly exceptional because he beat the odds and because a successful business man and black belt in Karate. He taught himself to read and write and spoke 5 languages. When I discussed this book idea with an industry professional we decided that I should turn it into a show to be featured at the Edinburgh festival in Scotland. I am a stand-up comedian so I thought this was a brilliant idea. It is very expensive to host a show and living expenses. There are free rooms which I applied for but I have not been allocated a room due to great demand. My only option is to use paid for venues and for the full run it will cost between £2700 - £4200. By doing a show in Edinburgh I hope to attract the attention of book publishers in order to get my book published. Thank you for considering my project. I have already written the show and have been doing trial runs with great feedback.

Here is a blog about the project
