About
We are Bo-Peep
We're a legendary Fukuoka Japan three-piece indie band.
Our group core is Mika Yoshimura on vocals and guitar, with Ryoko Nakano on the drums. We play loud and break things.
Bo-Peep are seeking funding from you to make a full-length
recording for release in cooperation with you, our fans! Bo-Peep, with
our producer Lee Popa (Ministry, Cheap Trick, KMFDM, Tool, and Killing
Joke), Jolee Popa, Yoshinori Arie , and Yuki Suzaku would like to
produce a world-class album as the basis to tour the world!
Introduction
WE ARE Bo-Peep!
Mika Yoshimura on vocals and guitar and Ryoko Nakano on the
drums formed Bo-Peep in Fukuoka in 2000. Our intense live show is
well-received by many. In the U.K. and USA, we have a strong and loyal
following. One UK fan has been quoted that it was better than sex!
Bo-Peep
has been covered by all the famous music magazines like NME, i-D, and
Neo.
With rave reviews from the New York Times music section. We’ve played
many major music festivals around in the world, including Fuji Rock
Festival in Japan, The Great Escape (Brighton) and In the City
(Manchester) in the UK, and American festival SXSW (Austin). In April
2018, we headlined the Sakura Festival in Brooklyn Botanical Garden in
New York City (USA).
While seeking a new bass player we are currently working on songwriting
with Yoshinori Arie (Vola and The Oriental Machine, Sugimoto Kyoichi,
Moon Beam, Yoshihiro Yuji and Tape Echoes, The Pillows) on bass. Our
touring bass player is Yuki Suzaku (Talking Lights, ex-Nananine).
Please read the review from our SXSW performance in the New York Times:
“A Surprise from Japan!” Years
of rock-showcase experience have shown me that Japan likes to export
jokey concept bands that quickly wear thin. So had I not looked at a
wrong date in the SXSW schedule, I never would have ended up seeing
Bo-Peep, a hard-rock band from Tokyo. Lucky me. There was no joke about
Bo-Peep’s brutally efficient riffing, whether the band was bashing out
brusque one-chord stomps or dissonant metal lines or blaring punk…
Bo-Peep could strong-arm itself a place alongside any American or
English stoner rock band, and should.”
— Jon Pareles, New York Times
