Blossom is our 10 year old Golden Retriever. She came to live with us when she was 15 weeks old as a rescued dog.We rescued Blossom as she had been returned after being purchased from a pet shop when it was found she had hip dysplasia. We knew that she would be down and so we adopted her into our family along with several other special needs dogs.We have managed Blossoms condition holistically since she arrived with us and she has done really well considering the vet told us that she had the worst case of hip dysplasia he had ever seen....

Unfortunately, recently it has become apparent that Blossom requires hip surgery as she is beginning to struggle with hip joints are bone on bone causing significant pain. We have explored several options and it has been decided that a double Femoral Head Osteotomy is the best option for her to give her a new lease on life.

Blossom is a special girl who despite her painful hips she is working with a young girl who has severe anxiety issues as a therapy dog as part of an Animal Assisted Therapy we run free of charge to help children with anxiety problems and autism....so the surgery would be our way of thanking Blossom for her amazing work.

As we run all our Animal Assisted Therapy as a free service we need to raise funds for Blossoms surgery. We are a retired couple who offer this service free to all who want to partake as we believe in the empathy of animals and see ongoing their ability to heal. The surgery will cost approximately $6000 plus Blossom will require extensive physio for a while afterwards to help get her used to life without pain and using muscles she hasn't been able to use properly up till now... so the physio component will be approximately $2000.. bringing the total for the surgery and aftercare to $8000.

Should you feel that you want to help with Blossom's surgery and aftercare you will receive updates and photos to show how she is doing and once she is given the green light to go back to work with the kids we will include photos of her back doing what she does best...comforting and helping to heal children with difficulties....
