Crowdfunding is helping people to travel around the world and volunteer for amazing causes. GoGetFunding has had the honour of helping some truly wonderful people to spread kindness all over the world through their travel and volunteer campaigns.
Instead of asking for gifts for her birthday, one beautiful soul set up a fundraising campaign and asked for donations to fund a volunteering trip. She planned to use her previous skills and knowledge to travel to Mexico for a week, to work with individuals with special needs. Her campaign was very successful, raising $1,500 to fund her trip.

A woman saw the work her friend was doing in Greece to help refugees who were in crisis. In their determination to flee war and get their families to safety, many travelled perilous journeys to reach their destination. Sadly, many lives were lost along the way. Those who did arrive were often in ill health, with very few resources, no shelter and little help available. Thankfully volunteers like Zerya and her friend stepped up to try to help out. Zerya’s campaign raised £4,378 to spend on the refugees once in Greece. She planned to buy as many clothes, blankets, food, water and other essentials as she could.

Zerya wasn’t the only one who wanted to help refugees. Another wonderful woman named Margaret was self-funding her trip to Lesbos, Greece to help the refugees arriving there. While she was funding her own costs, she wanted to have as much money as possible to put towards “nappies, clothes, shoes, shelter, sleeping bags, medicine and anything else the refugees need.”
She planned to buy the items there so that she could also support the local economy. Margaret’s campaign was extremely successful, raising a total of £4,370 with 161 donors!

Luke and Katie decided to travel to Zambia to volunteer with an organisation called ‘Dream Livingstone Zambia’. The organisation provides a place to stay for volunteers, giving them safe accommodation, food and guidance. They place volunteers in different schools or on medical or construction projects, all with the aim of enriching the local community.
Luke and Katie would be teaching local children. They were funding their trip themselves, but wanted to have enough money to provide the children with supplies and day to day essentials. They also wanted to give them more fun things like toys, which the children wouldn’t otherwise have access to. Luke and Katie also planned to donate a large portion of the money raised to local projects. Their GoGetFunding campaign raised $2,120, surpassing their goal with their campaign being 424% funded!
Since they had surpassed their goal by such a large amount, they started to look at other ways they could help the community. They discovered that the teachers they were working with were trying to build a new school and day care. With the extra money raised by their GoGetFunding campaign, they were able to help them make their dream a reality!

In 2016 a cyclone had caused devastation in Fiji. Cyclone Winston demolished the small structure the community had been using to provide education to their young children. Two teachers were doing their best to continue providing basic education within a community hall, with no classroom or educational resources. The hall was shared, so teachers were only able to make use of it for a few hours each morning.
A group of 10 students set out to try and change things for this local community. The students (from Tafe Brisbane’s Diploma of Building & Construction and Associate Degree in Civil Engineering) wanted to raise money to put towards a project they would be helping with. They were going to help build a dedicated school classroom for the pupils. They set up a fundraising campaign and raised AU$2,350, enabling them to help change the lives of the children and help to give them the education they deserve.

After having been an orphan herself, Anastasia wanted to help children who were going through similar experiences. She planned to travel to Quito, Ecuador to help children who work 365 days a year at a local flea market. They have had horrifically traumatic pasts and are now left in poverty to try and survive alone. Anastasia couldn’t stand by and watch.
She was going to go to the flea market to meet the children, get to know them on a human level and provide emotional support. She also planned to provide education, first aid, survival skills, and basic hygiene skills. Her campaign was highly successful, raising a total of $5,248!

A young woman called Bella wanted to travel the world with one of GoGetFunding’s partner organisations, ‘Plan My Gap Year’. She planned to travel to 17 different countries as part of the organisation’s childcare programme. This meant that she would help to educate children, aid them in learning life skills and bring fun and joy into their lives. The areas she would visit have very few resources and children are often in dire circumstances. Many children in these areas must resort to begging on the streets. Bella’s campaign was a resounding success. She surpassed her target, raising a total of £1,320 to fund her trip.
