MARBLES SAVED!

Dear Supporters of Marbles,

Thank you, so much, for being here for us when we really needed it.

Marbles had an excellent visit with our Cat Whisperer vet this morning. He was incredibly thorough explaining the nature of the break on the x-ray and confirmed what other surgeons have said: the surgery required would be too invasive, too technically challenging and too high-risk for such a young cat.

The vet also said that although the fracture is nasty, she is still in a bone growth stage and, as long as defecation becomes more regular, she may be able to heal and knit back together, not perfectly but functionally. He was impressed with her general demeanour and has recommended cage-rest for up to 8 weeks, with daily email reports and check-ups when necessary. He came up with a far wider range of options for ongoing care, from enemas to amputation, depending on how she progresses. Ultimately, it is all about Marbles' comfort and quality of life.

We are SO relieved. This has been one of the most stressful periods we have ever known and I cannot thank you enough for your support - mental, physical and financial. Please rest assured this situation will not happen again - insurance has been selected and will be confirmed tomorrow when I get paid!

As Marbles no longer requires an operation, I have halted the fundraiser. Thank you, so much, for being the blanket that caught us; your kindness has been incredible. I would also like to apologise for any distress you may have experienced over the last few days as a result of Marbles' plight; I would like to offer you cake by way of a thank you, please let me know taste preference.

Please contact me so I can return your donation to you directly (Paypal will pinch a bit if I do it that way).

If, and only if, you are completely happy for your donation to go towards the costs of the life-saving care Marbles received at the Barn, please also let me know; I will post a photo of the invoice.

Any funds remaining will be given to the Tailwaggers Club; a trust offering financial support to other animals in Marbles' situation. More info here: http://www.tailwaggersclubtrust.com/ I will post evidence of this donation if/when made.

Thank you again for being so amazing and letting me beg from you for my cat, because I was too sure of myself to get them insured. The roads are not safe, the world is full of scary things and my lesson has been well and truly learnt the hard way and I feel dreadful guilt that I have put Marbles, and you, and the vetinary staff, through this.

Thank you.

URGENT - Emergency operation funding required for young cat

Dear Internet,

I am contacting you out of desperation regarding emergency surgery needed by my 9 month old cat, Marbles.

She was taken to The Barn Vets, Basingstoke, on Thursday 28th May after a suspected RTA and the x-rays she had today revealed a severely damaged pelvis. The vets are recommending surgery or euthanasia due to the nature of the break.

I am on a low income as a single-parent and am unable to afford the fees being quoted up-front; provisional figures of £3,000 - £4,000.

She is in her usual good spirits and her mother and sister have been excited to have her home, as you can see in the picture; if it wasn't for her wobbly walking and being stuck in the cage you'd never know she was in such a dilemma. The vets have asked me to monitor her overnight and ring them on Saturday 30th May to report on her behaviour and toileting. If I cannot arrange for surgery to take place ASAP they are talking about putting her down in the first week of June.

Any donation you can make in order to help Marbles to have her operation would be appreciated so much. I do understand that there are many such requests and constraints on people's finances, so any help at all that can be given would be so gratefully received. Any way that I can help you in future, I will do so. I am also contacting as many relevant charities as possible in order to raise funds.

Thank you for taking the time to read this request and may your day be bright.

Kind regards,

Sorrel & Marbles

(and Pavlova & Hendrix)
