Super Typhoon Rai Category 5 made landfall in the Philippines on the island of Siargao, leaving destruction in its wake. In less than 3 hours, what was once the paradise of surfing has become a pile of rubble where people struggle to survive without food or shelter and are at great risk of becoming ill.

In Salvacion, the fishing village where our home is, the homes of 90% of my neighbors have been blown up and the rest, at least, have lost their roofs.

I am raising funds to urgently provide basic needs, including food, hygiene, medicine, and shelter. Currently, there is no electricity or communications standing.

With private means and the will of many along the way, we were able to deliver some essential goods. We have managed to send food and medicine, however, the work does not end there, we need to rebuild their houses. The people are literally on the street, the rains and heat are harsh on this land and its inhabitants, although strong and resilient people need our help.

The money will be used to ensure the direct delivery of aid since neither the government nor the large NGOs are having a great local impact.

If it is the most convenient, it will be donated to the non-profit entities that most efficiently carry out the task.

The focuses of our help currently are food, hygiene kits, water purifying tablets, medicines to tackle emerging diseases, diarrhea, dehydration, respiratory and skin infections. This help will be necessary for several months but in addition, we must send light construction materials and generators so that they can regain their dignity.

All help is great in these cases, no matter the amount. So don't be discouraged if you can't contribute much.

We will pass a transparency report as detailed as possible but you have my word that it will be used only in the coming and the expenses associated with its shipment.

Thanks!

Materiales para los vecinos - Materials for the neighbours

Update posted by Gisela N. Rodriguez Pascual at 05:58 am

Materiales en camino - Materials on its way

Update posted by Gisela N. Rodriguez Pascual at 04:54 am

Today we had contact with Jayson and the fast cat is arriving in Siargao tomorrow. As of now, they have arrived in Surigao to probably unload first thing in the morning. The sea was a little rough and apparently, our hero is feeling a bit dizzy today. Hang on in
