Campaign Story
Our father, 68-year-old Ricardo "Boy" Olarte, suddenly collapsed on the morning of December 24, 2021. Due to a blockage in an artery, his heartbeat has become irregular and his brain did not receive enough oxygen, causing lightheadedness and fainting.
We were advised that he needs to undergo an angioplasty as well as a pacemaker insertion surgery at the soonest possible time. We celebrated Christmas Eve with him in bed. He was so nauseous the entire day that he could barely get up. He continues to struggle with dizziness and his mobility.
Our father has had heart problems for years. In 2016, he suffered a heart attack right before my brother's wedding. In 2019, he had his first angioplasty. During both times, our family's finances were depleted covering the costs of the operation.
An angioplasty alone costs P330,000 while a pacemaker can cost up to P250,000, and the cost of the pacemaker insertion and hospitalization at P210,000. The total is sadly beyond what we can pool together as a family. We are knocking on your hearts to please spare what you can to help us achieve our target amount of P790,000 so we can arrange for our father's angioplasty and pacemaker insertion surgery.
