With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Hide — a husband, father, son and a friend. We thank you for all the love, prayers and support through this journey.

On January 6: It was the last hospital visit day before they lock down the hospital. No more visitors are allowed to see the patients in person even our family member( Due to tightened HK Government strict policy). Hopefully they’ll open up again soon! Hide’s still in the condition under rehabilitation program whenever he feels better. We appreciate all of you who had supported us. You saved his life, and our family…thank you very much🙏🏻 We will keep fighting with him！

1月6日の面会日を最後に病院への面会が出来なくなりました。早くコロナが終息してくれないかと祈るばかりです。ヒデは体調の良い時はリハビリを頑張っています。このファンディングを通して沢山の方々から多大なるご支援をいただき、どうも有難うございました。本当に皆さまに助けられています。また今後もこの病気と戦って行く事になると思いますが、これからも暖かく見守っていただけたら幸いです。

Update(2): Countless “thank you” to everyone who has supported our family over the past a few weeks🙏🏻 Hide is currently in another hospital and is under further treatments and rehabilitaion. Dr told us it will take some time( even he doesn’t know how long.. ) for him to recover to walk by himself. Sometimes he still feels nausia/headache but he’s practicing walking and recovering mustles through the rehabilitation programs. There’s no fastest way, he must keep moving on slow but steady way for his recovery step by step. Hide and we would like to say, “Merry Christmas and a happy new year” to all of you.

近況報告(2): 本当に沢山の方々よりサポート頂き誠にありがとうございます🙏🏻　皆さま一人一人にお礼を申し上げます。池田は数日前よりリハビリメインの病院に転院となり、毎日リハビリに励んでいます。時折、体調が思わしくない時もあるので、ゆっくり時間をかけて頑張っています。今のところ、担当の医師にもいつ退院出来るかは分からないそうで、この病気の患者さん一人一人が違う病状、症状を抱えている事が伝わって来ます。慌てず、一歩ずつ着実に回復して欲しいと願っています。私達を応援して下さった皆さまに、メリークリスマス、そしてどうか良いお年をお迎え下さいます様お祈り申し上げます。

Update: Thank you very much for those of you who has supported our family🙏🏻 Finally visitors are allowed after 7 days of admission. Hide lost 12kg in a month, but he is getting better now by little and getting back his appetite! Still difficulty in walking, but his rehabilitation has been already started! 💪Hope we can update more better news in the future!

近況報告: クラウドファンディングなどで私達を助けてくれた皆様、本当にありがとうございます🙏🏻　一人一人にメッセージ出来なくてすみません、皆様のお気持ちがとても嬉しいのと有難いので感謝しかありません🙏🏻　公立病院入院から1週間過ぎでやっと外部からの面会がOKに〜今まで頭痛と吐き気で食欲なかったので1カ月で12kg減量。でも昨日辺りから大分良くなり今日はお昼ご飯も完食。まだ歩くのは難しいけど、もうすでに病院ではリハビリも始まっているそうです。頑張れ！ヒデパパ！💪💪💪　これからも暖かく見守って頂けたら幸いです。

Hide Ikeda is a loving father of Takuma and Sakura Ikeda, a good provider and a faithful husband. Having been married to a cabin crew, Hide has been a hands on father and a confidant to our children. During this challenging time with the pandemic, Hide has been the provider of our family.

Unfortunately, Hide started to have symptoms of hiccups, nausea, spinal cord discomfort and was unable to walk. He immediately seek medical help but public hospitals couldn't diagnose his disease due to its rarity.

On December 6th, Hide was diagnosed with NMOSD.

NMOSD (Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder) is an incurable autoimmune disorder in which white blood cells and antibodies primarily attack the optic nerves and the spinal cord and the brain. The initial cost of Hide’s diagnosis is around 250,000HKD. Hide also needs to undergo minimum 5 times dialysis which costs 80,000HKD per session.

As of December 9, we have been told that the hospital could not longer accommodate Hide due to our lack of finances.

As of December 10, Hide was transferred to a public hospital, hopefully he can undergo suitable treatments

突然の難病疾患、日本語名(視神経脊髄炎スペクトラム障害)と診断されました。自分の細胞を間違って攻撃してしまう「自己免疫疾患」のひとつで中枢神経の病気です。完治はなく、今の治療が上手く行えれば症状は抑えられるようですが、今現在、歩く事が出来ません。初めは公立病院に行きましたが精密検査をしてもらえず、私立病院での検査と治療となりました。香港での医療費は想像以上に嵩み、保険でもカバーし切れなくなった為今現在(12月10日)より、公立の他の病院へ転院して治療を開始しました。1日も早く適切な治療で快復に向かう事が出来ますよう、ご協力頂ければ感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。
